When I run the Design It program I can't use  generic timbers in my designs as only HIjoists and Hyspan show up in the timber list ?

Generic timbers need to be switched on and made available. If you press on the Yellow IT application button on the top/left of the screen, then press the 'Preferences' button and finally press on the 'Materials' tab, you can select generic timbers for designIT to use.
